In England, wavy brick walls are common, and interestingly, they are made with fewer bricks than a straight wall. If a straight wall is only one brick thick, it is not strong and can easily collapse, so it is usually made thicker and has pillars attached to it for support. But the wavy wall, which is only one brick thick, stands strong without any additional support due to its arched structure. Because of this structure, it acts as both a wall and its support. It is called a "crinkle wall".
