poverty of humanity and attitudes
In a restaurant in America, a waitress gave a lunch menu to a man and his wife and before they could look at the menu, they asked her to serve them the two cheapest dishes because they did not have enough money. They had not received their salaries for several months. Due to which they were going through a difficult time. Waitress Sarah did not think long. She suggested two dishes to them and they agreed without hesitation that they were the cheapest. She brought both orders and they ate their food quickly because they were hungry, and before leaving, they asked the waitress for the bill. She returned to him with a piece of paper in her wallet on which she had written: "I paid your bill from my personal account, considering your circumstances. This is a gift of one hundred dollars from me, and that is the least I can do for you. Thank you for coming. Signed by Sarah."
The couple were very happy as they left the restaurant.
What was surprising to Sarah, who was in a difficult situation, was that she felt very happy to pay the couple's dinner bill despite her difficult financial situation. Although she had been saving money for about a year to buy an automatic washing machine because she had a hard time washing clothes with the old washing machine.
But what hurt her the most was that when her friend found out about this matter, Sarah's friend scolded her a lot. Because she had saved this money by putting aside her own needs and those of her child, she needed to buy a washing machine for herself more than to help others.
At the same time, she Her mother called her and said in a loud voice: "Sarah, what did you do?"
She answered in a low, trembling voice, fearing an unbearable shock: "I didn't do anything. What happened?"
Her mother replied: "Facebook is doing everything in its power to praise you and your behavior. This guy and his wife posted your message on Facebook when you paid the bill on their behalf and many people shared it. "I'm proud of you." ...
She had barely finished her conversation with her mother when a school friend called her, showing that her message had gone viral on all digital social platforms.
As soon as Sarah opened her Facebook account, she received hundreds of messages from television producers and press reporters asking her to meet with her to talk about her particular initiative.
The next day, Sarah appeared on one of the most famous and most watched American television shows. The host gave her a very luxurious washing machine, a modern television set and ten thousand dollars. She received a five thousand dollar purchase voucher from an electronics company. Gifts showered her until the amount received in appreciation of her great human behavior reached more than $100,000.
Two meals that cost no more than a few dollars + $100 changed her life.
Generosity is not about giving someone something you don't need. Rather, generosity is giving what you need to someone else in need.
True poverty is poverty of humanity and attitudes.
