The effects of preaching on the creative mind...
Dr. Khalid Sohail...
He was a handsome young man from a wealthy family in Pakistan. As a pop singer, he was very popular. His songs were always played on radio and TV and CDs were sold in droves. His band "Vital Signs" was very popular. But there was something missing that made his life feel very empty. And that was the restlessness of his heart.
When I analyze the lives of those famous people of the world who are rich in worldly wealth. Live in magnificent houses. Travel in big cars. Own huge bank balances. They have personal planes and boats, but the interesting thing is that they are often deprived of a blessing like peace of mind.
This was the case with Junaid Jamshed. He was rich in worldly blessings. But he could not sleep peacefully at night. He was just like famous people like him, surrounded by wonderful dreams of the past and fears of the future, deprived of spending even a moment of the present in peace. He was afraid of the fears hidden in his subconscious that kept telling him that this world is mortal.
To get rid of this inner fear, some people turn to drugs and some find refuge under the umbrella of religion.
Some people who are born in religious families. Due to their different temperament, they choose a different path from the rest of their family. They achieve fame in the world due to their hard work and passion. But their friends weigh them in the traditional scales and always tell them that they are committing sins. No matter how much they ignore this criticism, this social attitude becomes a torturer and keeps hitting them continuously. Which causes their restlessness. As they reach the heights of fame. The fear that grows in the subconscious keeps making them restless. Which causes severe depression and hopelessness. And they reach a critical point where, upon meeting a “miraculous” religious figure, they surrender themselves to him.
When I watched Junaid Jamshed’s 90-minute long interview on YouTube, I realized that when he met Tablighi leader Maulana Tariq Jameel through his high school friend, he was going through severe mental stress in those days. Maulana Sahib, based on his experience, assessed his mental state and captured him in his own unique way. He knew that Junaid Jamshed was a big name. Whose songs he had heard. In whose videos he had seen him surrounded by a cluster of beautiful girls. Flourishing in the benevolent shadow of the goddesses of fame and wealth, Junaid Jamshed told him that he felt scared and empty inside.
He immediately told him that since all this wealth and fame is limited to this material body. Therefore, he is in dire need of spiritual food. When Jamshed said that music is the food of the soul, Maulana Sahib strongly disagreed with him and said that music creates sexual arousal in the body. And this act is not liked by God at all. Hearing this, Junaid Jamshed was shocked.
Tariq Jameel knew that the iron was hot, so he struck hard. This was the hour of the death of Junaid Jamshed’s creative mind and the birth of a Tablighi scholar. In the next few months, Junaid Jamshed decided to give up all musical activities. He gradually started preparing himself to play the role of a Tablighi scholar away from worldly pleasures.
Shoaib Mansoor’s reaction:
Although Maulana Tariq Jameel had taken Junaid Jamshed under his wing in the religious world. Before that, Junaid Jamshed was very impressed by a famous film producer, writer and scholar. Who played an important role in his education and development as a singer and musician.
Who introduced him to the music band “Vital Signs”. Shoaib Mansoor was deeply saddened by his quitting music and joining the Tablighi Jamaat. He wrote in 2007;
“One morning when I was reading the newspaper So I saw Junaid’s interview in it, which also included his “new picture”. As I read, a deep sadness arose within me. He had announced that after learning that music is forbidden. He is leaving the music band.
I was deeply shocked to read this. I can never believe that God, who has created God-given abilities like music and painting within man, can ever declare them forbidden and hate them. I realized that a weak-minded person like Junaid Jamshed has no right to harass thousands of his listeners. I gave him fifteen years of my life.
I trained him as a professional. How can he waste all my hard work without consulting me. I realized that it is my responsibility to play my role in bringing this society, which is the victim of Tablighi Jamaat, out of this severe shock.” Shoaib Mansoor was so deeply hurt by Junaid Jamshed’s behavior that he wrote a very beautiful script “For God”.
He asked Jamshed to play the lead role in it. He initially agreed to get his beard trimmed but later changed his mind. Due to which Shoaib Mansoor realized that he had gone so far that it was difficult to return. In fact, the injection of extremism that Junaid Jamshed had received.
Now it was not possible to get out of its side effects. Junaid Jamshed was deeply influenced by Maulana Tariq Jameel. He is a famous leader of the Tablighi Jamaat. This party follows very strict religious principles.
