Winter storm in America: Millions of people without electricity, flights suspended

Due to the major winter storm in the US, more than half of the country's population is facing heavy snowfall and freezing winds, while more than 1 million people are without power and many flights have been suspended. According to media reports, more than a dozen people have died during the severe weather and snowfall in various states, while states of emergency have been declared in Georgia, North Carolina and Kentucky.

Millions of people are stuck at home under cold-storm warnings as meteorologists say some places are so cold that anyone venturing outside could be exposed to severe weather within moments. Due to strong winds, heavy snowfall in various states of America, power supply may be interrupted, along with this, energy demand may be higher than normal.

Extreme cold and snow have disrupted millions of travelers across the U.S. during the Christmas holiday season, with 4,500 flights canceled and hundreds of trains canceled in the Midwest over two days. The cancellation of flights and trains has caused panic among citizens, with 12 hundred flights canceled at the two airports in Chicago alone.

US President Joe Biden, warning of the severity of the weather, has asked the public to think twice before traveling, as the expected storm could be very dangerous. He said that citizens should follow the warnings of local authorities. In addition to the United States, the eastern part of Canada is also experiencing extreme cold and snow, with many flights being canceled or delayed in Toronto.
