Let there be no regrets...!
The snake bit the chicken, the poison was burning its body. The chicken tried to take refuge in its shelter, the chicken coop... But the other chickens thought it better to throw it out so that the poison would not spread. The chicken limped away, crying more from internal pain than from external pain.
She was more saddened not by the snake bite, but by the ignorance and contempt of her family, when she needed them the most.
She walked away, feverish, dragging one leg, at the mercy of the cold nights. A tear fell with every step.
The other chickens in the coop watched her go, and seeing her disappear into the horizon, some said:
Let her go... she will die away from us.
And when the chicken finally disappeared into the vastness of the horizon, everyone was sure that she was dead.
Some even looked up at the sky, hoping to see the donkeys flying.
Time passed.
One day a hummingbird came to the henhouse and brought news... Your sister is alive! She lives in a distant cave. She has recovered, but has lost a leg due to a snake bite. She is having difficulty finding food and needs your help.
Silence fell and then the excuses began...
— I can't go, I'm laying eggs...
— I can't go, I'm looking for grain...
— I can't go, I have to take care of my babies...
One by one, everyone refused. The bird returned to the cave without any help.
Then time passed.
Much later, the bird came again, but this time with sad news...
— Your sister has died... She died alone in the cave...
No one is there to bury her or mourn her.
At that moment, everyone was burdened.
A deep sense of regret swept through the henhouse.
The hens that laid the eggs stopped.
The grain seekers left the seeds.
The hens that looked after the children forgot them for a moment. Regret hurt more than any poison.
They asked themselves:
"Why didn't we go earlier?"
And without looking at the distance, measuring the path, they all set off towards the cave, crying and regretting. Now they had reason to look at it, but it was too late.
When they reached the cave, they didn't find the chicken...
They only found a letter that read...
"In life, most people don't cross the road to help you, but cross the world to bury you.
And most tears at funerals are not of pain, but of regret and shame."
Lesson: Help others in their difficult times in life, lest they have regrets later.
